- Each therapy visit lasts about an hour and you will need to be seen every 10-14 days. This interval allows for maximum healing between visits without allowing too much time for the bacteria to re-infect the healing sites.
- Six weeks after your last periodontal therapy visit, you will need to be seen for your six week Periodontal Therapy. This is the most important visit of the entire sequence. Your results will be evaluated to assess the level of healing and disease remission you have achieved. During this visit the Hygienist will provide you with a polish followed by full mouth therapy as needed. The Hygienist and the Doctor will determine your balance point which is how long you can go between professional sub-gingival (under the gum line) bacteria disruption and still remain in disease remission, which is indicated by no bleeding.
- Although periodontal disease may come and go and periodically need to be retreated, our goal is to help you maintain disease remission for as long as possible by closely monitoring your health at each subsequent visit.
