By helping to properly align and relax muscles in the face, the PPM mouth guard improves muscle recruitment and vertebrae alignment. The results are improved strength and balance which results in better performance.
If you are looking for better balance on the ice, a more powerful golf swing, a higher vertical leap on the basketball court or better results from strength training the PPM mouth guard can help you achieve your athletic potential!
Getting started with your Pure Power Mouthguard (PPM)
The PPM mouthguard is only available through a PPM certified dentist. If Dr. Rahn determines you are a candidate for the PPM then impressions will be taken of your lower and upper teeth and your optimal bite will be determined during your first appointment (which will take approximately one to two hours). After your custom mouth guard has been fabricated by the lab (approximately one week) your PPM will be fitted during a second visit with Dr. Rahn in just five to ten minutes.
The Science behind PPM
In 90 percent of the population, the lower jaw is not in an optimal position, which causes facial muscles to be unhappy where they are situated. The Pure Power Mouthguard is based on the concepts of neuromuscular dentistry, a science developed by Dr. Bernard Jankelson. Neuromuscular dentistry incorporates the muscles, nerves, and supporting structures of the mouth in order to improve jaw and muscle alignment. Neuromuscular dentistry focuses on the physical connection between the range of motion of these muscles and joints and your body posture.
Dr. Rahn will determine the best possible jaw position through computerized tracking of your jaw. A TENS (Transcutaneous Electro Neural Stimulation) machine is used to help relax your muscles, putting them in their most comfortable position. Your PPM is fitted when your facial muscles are in this position, thus returning your muscles to this relaxed position when the mouth guard is worn. When your jaw is in its optimal position, as it is when wearing your specifically made PPM, the muscles are no longer stressed. This gives you the best bite along with the added benefits of improved balance, and increased upper body strength.
